French people have always been proud of their fashion.
Accordingly there are lots of famous brands.
I'll give an example to explain the reason why Paris became famous.
CHANEL was founded by Gabrielle Chanel. She opened a millinery shop at 160 Boulevard Malesherbes. That building belonged to her lover who owned salon for hunting and sporting elite, so she could easily meet rich people.

Before Chanel was founded, French clothes were very uncomfortable. Women had to emphasize their bust, waist, and hips to be seen as attractive. But she changed this conception. For instance, she used black. That time, black clothes were worn only for funeral and mourning. But she made black used in normal clothes. In 1923, to explain the success of her clothes, Coco Chanel told Harper’s Bazaar magazine that "design simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance".
Like that, French fashion is so liberal and fearless to change.

It is quite interesting that how Chanel was started. I don't have any sense about fashion , but i realize that simple is the best in fashion too. I want to know another french fashion. Are there more brand that represent french fashion??
